- Do I need 1 license for each workstation I am going to install Insider on?
- No. Insider is licensed either per server or per server CPU, not per site. You need as many licenses as you have servers or CPUs on all servers you intend to monitor. Read on for more information.
- Why am I getting "License limit exceeded" message?
- If in per server mode - you have created more Oracle servers on Enterprise view than you have licenses. If in per CPU mode - add up all cpu_count parameters on all Oracle servers to find out how many licenses you need.
- What is the easiest way to calculate the number of licenses I need?
- If in per server mode - add up all your servers. If in per CPU mode - add up all cpu_count parameters on all Oracle servers to find out how many licenses you need.
- Can I install multiple copies of Insider?
- As many as you need. We do not restrict the number of Insider copies you can install.
- I have 2 databases configured on the same 4 CPU server. How many licenses do I need?
- The number of licenses is determined by adding up all CPUs of all databases configured on Enterprise view (more specifically all cpu_count parameter values). You need therefore 2*4 = 8 licenses.
- My server has dual-core CPUs. Do I need 2 licenses per CPU?
- Yes. Multiple-core CPUs are treated as multiple CPUs.
- My server has hyperthreaded CPUs that are reported as 2 CPUs each. Do I need 2 licenses per CPU?
- No. Hyperthreaded CPUs are treated as a single CPU. Please contact us if you have issues with hyperthreaded CPUs.
- How is licensing policy enforced by Insider?
- In per server mode Insider counts the number of items on the Enterprise view. In per CPU mode Insider adds up all cpu_count parameters for all databases on Enterprise view. If the number of licenses is not enough to monitor all servers some servers will be paused.
