- Do I need 1 license for each workstation I am going to install Insider on?
- No. Insider is licensed per server, not per site. You need as many licenses as you have servers you intend to monitor. Also a license can only be used for a server up to a maximum number of CPUs (cores) it allows. Read on for more information.
- Can I install multiple copies of Insider?
- As many as you need. We do not restrict the number of Insider copies you can install.
- Does it matter how many CPUs are on the server I monitor?
- Yes, different servers require different licenses, depending on the number of CPU cores Each license specifies a limit on a number of CPU cores it can be used for.
- Why am I getting "License limit exceeded" message?
- You have created more Oracle servers on Enterprise view than you have licenses for, or the number of CPUs (cores) of a server exceeds the maximum allowed by its license
- What is the easiest way to calculate the number of licenses I need?
- Add up all your servers. Make sure you have a correct license for each server
- I have 2 databases configured on the same 4 CPU server. How many licenses do I need?
- You need as many licenses as the number of Enterprise view items you intend to monitor simultaneously. If you want to monitor both databases at the same time you need 2 licenses.
- My server has dual-core CPUs. Do I need 2 licenses per CPU?
- Yes. Multiple-core CPUs are treated as multiple CPUs.
- My server has hyperthreaded CPUs that are reported as 2 CPUs each. Do I need 2 licenses per CPU?
- No. Hyperthreaded CPUs are treated as a single CPU. Please contact us if you have issues with hyperthreaded CPUs.
- Can I use one license to monitor 2 servers?
- Yes, but not at the same time. Only one server will be actively monitored at any time. You can switch between servers (pause one and activate another)
- How is licensing policy enforced by Insider?
- Insider counts the number of items on the Enterprise view. If the number of licenses is not enough to monitor all servers, or the number of CPUs (cores) of a server exceeds the maximum allowed by its license some servers will be paused.
